Short Boot Times on Windows 8 - Shutdown hibernates the kernel


When you shut down Windows 8, it hibernates the kernel, so when start it up again, it comes back up fast. This is a big problem when you make hardware changes and can result in data corruption and stability issues.

Whenever you make hardware changes on Windows 8 system, do a (cold) shutdown or restart.
